Terms of Service

The terms that govern use of www.embeddedos.org and related EmbeddedOS Foundation services.

1. Acceptance

By accessing www.embeddedos.org or any related EmbeddedOS Research Foundation ("EoS", "we", "our") service, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

2. The site & the projects

The site provides information about the EmbeddedOS open-source projects (EoS RTOS, eBootloader, eBuild, EAI, ENI, EIPC, eApps, EoSim, EoStudio, eDB, eBowser, eOffice, eServiceApps, eos-platform). The software itself is licensed under its own open-source license (typically Apache 2.0 unless noted in the project's repository).

3. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • use the site or services to violate any law or third-party right;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system or account;
  • interfere with the site's operation, including via automated abuse;
  • misrepresent affiliation with the EmbeddedOS Foundation; or
  • use the site to harass, threaten, or impersonate any person.

4. Accounts

Some features (membership, certification, newsletter) require providing contact details. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit and for keeping any credentials secure.

5. Donations & memberships

Donations to the EmbeddedOS Research Foundation, a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit, may be tax-deductible in the United States to the extent allowed by law. Membership and certification fees are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated in the program description.

6. Intellectual property

Site content (excluding open-source code, which is licensed separately) is © EmbeddedOS Research Foundation and licensed CC BY 4.0 unless otherwise stated. The EmbeddedOS, EoS, EAI, ENI, EIPC, eBootloader, eBuild, eApps, EoSim, EoStudio, eDB, eBowser, eOffice, eServiceApps, and eos-platform names and associated logos are trademarks of the EmbeddedOS Research Foundation. See Section 11 for trademark guidelines.

7. Open source

EmbeddedOS software is provided under open-source licenses; full license texts and third-party attributions are listed at licenses.html. Open-source code is provided "as is" under the terms of its license — see the project repository for the canonical license file.

8. Disclaimers

The site and the open-source software are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Use of any embedded operating system or AI runtime in safety-critical systems is at your own risk; consult the project README for guidance on safety qualifications.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the EmbeddedOS Research Foundation, its directors, officers, employees, and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to the site or the software.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the site for violations of these Terms, applicable law, or other reasonable cause. Sections 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 survive termination.

11. Trademark guidelines

You may use the EmbeddedOS / EoS marks in factual reference to the project (e.g., "Built on EmbeddedOS"), provided the use is honest, does not imply endorsement, and does not modify the mark's appearance. You may not use the marks as part of your own product or service name without prior written consent. Detailed guidelines: trademarks@embeddedos.org.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the homepage at least 30 days before taking effect.
